Hotel Santiago is designed as a contemporary expression of Dominican culture, drawing inspiration from the traditional casona residences of Santiago de los Caballeros. The project translates the warmth, openness, and social nature of these historic homes into a refined urban hospitality environment that is both rooted in place and forward-looking in character.

The interior concept emphasizes a balance between relaxed Caribbean sensibility and elevated modern design. Generous public spaces are organized to encourage social interaction, reflecting the communal rhythms of Dominican life. Materiality plays a central role, with layered textures, natural finishes, and a restrained color palette that reinforce a sense of comfort and authenticity while maintaining a polished, contemporary aesthetic. Local craft and regional references are integrated throughout, grounding the interior in cultural context without relying on literal motifs.

Select amenity spaces further reinforce the hotel’s connection to Dominican heritage, including a cigar lounge developed in partnership with Arturo Fuente. The space is designed as an intimate social setting that complements the overall interior language while acknowledging the country’s longstanding cigar tradition. Subtle material shifts, tailored lighting, and a relaxed atmosphere distinguish the lounge without separating it from the broader design narrative of the hotel.

The result is a cohesive interior environment that feels welcoming and sophisticated, offering guests a strong sense of place while supporting the expectations of an international lifestyle brand. Hotel Santiago stands as a modern urban retreat and a reflection of the city’s cultural identity through thoughtful, contextual design.
